Special Education Teacher and Inclusion Specialist
I am very excited to start another year at Copper Ridge. This will my third year teaching in the Vail School District and at Copper Ridge as a special education teacher. It has been such a joy working at Copper Ridge with amazing students and staff. I look forward to what the year has in store.
I grew up in the mountain town of Flagstaff, Arizona. It was in Flagstaff where I found my dislike of the snow and the many months that it stayed. So, I decided to move to sunny Tucson, Arizona to attend the University of Arizona (U of A). I received my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Mild/Moderate Disabilities from the U of A and during that time I was given the amazing opportunity to live and work in India. I worked at an orphanage in India that supported children with varying disabilities that had been abandoned due to their disabilities. I had the wonderful opportunity to become a foster mother to a group of eight amazing little boys. The boys inspired and challenged me everyday and they still do so to this day. My work in India inspired me to continue my education and from there I received my Master’s degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Severe and Multiple Disabilities from the U of A.
When I am not at work I enjoy running, working out, camping and hiking, videography, and spending time with friends and family.
As a teacher I strive to ensure that all students and families feel as if they are supported and have all the tools they need to succeed in school and have fun doing so. I am very excited for another year at Copper Ridge and I look forward to working with all students.
