Lauren Prater

I graduated from the University of Arizona in May of 2012 and joined the Vail Unified School District in the fall of that same year. This will be my seventh year teaching fifth grade and my third  year at Copper Ridge Elementary! I am so grateful to be a Ringtail and work with amazing students and families everyday!

I grew up in San Diego, CA and am the oldest of four kids. I have a passion for traveling, doing yoga, walking my dog Gus and being outdoors! I enjoy having new experiences and consider myself a life long learner. I am always striving to expand my horizons and take risks to better myself and better my classroom of learners.

I love working with fifth graders! Their enthusiasm for learning and developing independence is what makes their age so unique! I believe my job as an educator is to prepare young people to enter the world not only as self sufficient citizens, but also as competitors. I strive to provide students with rich educational experiences full of challenges, achievements and questions. Everyday I work to foster meaningful learning through love and laughter in the classroom. My goal is to inspire children to be life long learners, to be confident in themselves and to laugh along the way. I hope everyday in the classroom is a positive experience and can pave a road of success for every child. I am honored to work with students from this community!
